Recently, after evaluation by authorities, NRP250 azimuth thruster of Nanjing High Accurate Marine Equipment Co., Ltd (NGC Marine) has been recognized as first key equipment of Jiangsu Province. This has approved that years of independent research and development which NGC Marine made on its azimuth thruster have be highly recognized in the aspect of technology and market share. The project for recognizing key equipment and critical parts was set up by Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission, which is aimed to encourage independent development on hi-tech equipment, large complete equipment and critical parts in high-end manufacturing field.
National Planning for Development of Ocean Economy in the 12th Five-year Plan stated the expectation on development of marine industry and manufacturing of ocean engineering equipment. High performance ocean research vessel, special engineering vessel, luxury Ro-Ro vessel and ocean platform, etc are all included in the development list. Such vessels normally have special requirements on maneuverability, and a certain percentage of such vessels have been equipped with azimuth thrusters. Being a new and modern type of marine propulsion system, azimuth thrusters are key equipment of a vessel’s power system. Rated power of NRP250-FP azimuth thruster is 1765kW, propeller dia. is 2400mm, max. load power is 2200kW, max. input torque is 25467Nm. After developed successfully, NGC Marine has received a number of orders of NRP250, on which highly recognition from customers have been gained.
It is commonly agreed by the evaluation expert’s team that: Klingelnberg bevel gears is used in the system, which will ensure high loading capability and stable driving of the system; Modular design technology is introduced for designing of rudder angle feedback device, manual steering unit, oil drain tool and hydraulic system to achieve interchangeability of parts; Well-approved heat treatment process and machining procedure is applied to obtain mechanical property of bevel gears, driving shafts and other key components; Advanced hydrodynamic calculation method is adopted for making match design of engine-propeller-ship and optimization of the complete propulsion system, which could improve propulsion efficiency and significantly control vibration and cavitations caused by the propeller. 7 national utility model patents have been granted to the azimuth thruster, which has caused the technology in the leading position in China.
