The sea trial of the first domestic high speed shaft CP propeller designed by Nanjing High Accurate Marine Equipment Co., Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of NGC was successful. The total length of this system is 39m, consists of three major parts, the 25m high speed shafting, the gearbox and the CP propeller. It was the first time for China to apply the steel-made high speed shaft to the propulsion system, and it was also the initial application in offshore engineering vessels.The propulsion is featured with high speed, large hull deformation compensation, good reliability and cost-effectiveness, etc. This system was installed in 7200 HP PSV made by Zhoushan ChengLu Shipyard. Lots of tests had been done during the sea trial, including overload test, combined adjusting of engine and propeller, and navigation speed. Uninterrupted inspections to shaft vibration, bearing temperature and gearbox had been carried out as well. The test datum showed that the maximum temperature of high speed shaft was 50℃ under various work conditions, and the shafting ran stably with small vibration. In addition, the speed under continuous service power exceeded the service speed required by the ship owner. The product performance won high reputation from the client and surveyor.
